Non-violent self-defence program for schoolchildren

MISSION

We have been involved in self-defence for students for years and have found that self-defence skills in the wrong hands are just as dangerous as lacking such skills entirely. This is especially true in a school environment, where there are countless sharp and protruding objects (chairs, corners of tables, radiators, etc.) that can pose a serious risk of accident in the event of an escalating conflict, even if it is a fall resulting from a wrong move. Not to mention the fact that the school environment is a breeding ground for violent conflict resolution and bullying, regardless of age.

WHAT IS TREVA?

TREVA is a non-violent self-defence system specially developed for the school environment, based on the principles of Krav-Maga. The aim is that neither the attacked nor the attacker is injured during the conflict, in order to avoid both physical and psychological injuries and, last but not least, legal consequences.

Unlike traditional martial arts, TREVA is designed specifically for children, and was developed with the following aspects in mind:

  • Mental preparation
  • Timely recognition of emergency situations
  • Avoidance of physical injuries
  • A practical application that works in all life situations
  • Easy learnability

OUR TRAINING PROGRAMS

A two-hour workshop

From a safety point of view, it is a big risk factor in our children’s lives when they start travelling around the city alone. As caring parents and educators, we make them aware of many things and set up various rules to keep them safe. But are these rules really effective enough? Are the children certainly prepared for all eventualities?

We have studied and analysed a number of cases that show the dangers unsuspecting young people face when traveling in the form of human and animal “predators”. From this, we developed a fun, interactive program to teach children basic safety and self-defence rules. Through the eyes of a special agent, children learn about the potential dangers of travel and the most important safety rules.

In the Fit For Life program, participants are basically prepared to deal with situations in two different environments: inside and outside of school.

Outside of school, i.e. on the street, the primary goal is to recognize and avoid dangerous situations in time, but ultimately young people should also be able to deal with a more aggressive attack.

“He’s been to my sixth grade class several times and the kids always ask when he’s coming next. At the end of the year, several of them called this program the best extracurricular activity of all. It is comprehensive, comprises both theoretical and practical elements, and both the language and style are appropriate for the age group. It tackles very topical issues, helps children navigate difficult situations, and as new questions continue to be raised, we hope to offer many more events of this kind. I heartily recommend it for young and old, and for fellow teachers, too.”
